Kevin Keegan is bang out of order!

August 31, 2008

First of all I am shocked that Kevin Keegan doesnt seem to know the rules or is there one rule for Arsenal and another for the rest?

Last week against Fulham, Eboue was twice fouled from behind. They were cynical fouls from Murphy and Taimooriyan. There was absolutelty no intent on getting the ball but simply to stop the man at all expense. On both instances the referee awarded Arsenal a free kick and gave a yellow card to the offending player. Now yesterday Nasri trips Barton, looking at the replay it was hard to even tell whether it was deliberate but I admit Nasri had motive but that alone is not enough to find a man guilty. I can bet you anything with the video evidence the FA would never have concluded whether it was deliberate or accidental trip.

Yet Mr Keegan goes out and confronts Nasri and then Gallas, pointing fingers at them and starting a spat. Then he claims Nasri should have been red carded. Why? Murphy and Taimooriyan were not red carded yet their fouls were much worse and intentional. Do only Arsenal players get red carded for tackling from behind deliberately?

Keegan should be explaining why, when there are a few minutes left on the clock, the score is 3-0 and everyone seemed to have been resigned to the result of an Arsenal win does Barton come in charging like a bull terrier and unleashes a hard lunge / tackle on Nasri which could possibly have broken his leg? Yes he got the ball and yes the challenge was legal but what we have a beef with is the intent. It was clear from Barton’s actions and body language it was one of those moments of madness that has plagued his entire life. After all the crap this guy has gone through over the last couple of years you would have thought he would have cooled down and learnt something but yesterday made it clear it has not and this guy is a waiting disaster a timebomb waiting to explode any second.

The booing of Arsenal fans really got to Barton and that is what that tackle was about. He got so wound up by the booing that he lost his cool, just like he did when he repeatedly punched his team mate (Dabo) who was out cold on the ground, just like he lost it when he had that drunkun brawl after a late night drinking session. It is clear the guy still has a mental problem he should not be roaming around in free society let alone be allowed on a football pitch.

Now the second point. Keegan made quite a big deal of the penalty that was given crying of how if his team had got that break we would have had a game. Your team never got that break because your team spent most of their time in their own half so the likelihood of that break going your way were very remote. And did he forget about the blatant, stonewall penalty on RVP that was not given? Wasnt that a break that went your way Mr Keegan? Justice was done in the end! So I dont understand all of his bitching and moaning.

I respect Keegan quite a lot even after his illogical ramblings yesterday. I have just put it down to emotions since he is an emotional guy as we all very well know!

By the way what a great player Nasri is? And I think from now on he will (or atleast should) be taking all of our free kicks.
